Tony its a pedal back!! the repops didnt come with an orange seat and the pedals are the same as my ghost repop. I said repop because that's what it looks like!!! no shifter, no brakes!!

The seat should be orange with a white stripe.

Joe, this bike looks like a repop!! if its a 1970 where's the shifter? where are the brakes? i know you said there are pedal back shifters but i didn't think they were on the 1970 model. I knew the seat was incorrect for an original but not a repop. Im still a schwinn newbee so please help me out here.

The Krates started in 1968 but in 1970 they produced the first coaster brake Krates and this is one of them. No speeds, just pedal forward to go and pedal back to stop.

Wow I really started something with that one! OK in 1968 all the krates have different seats then later years. Orange Krate was white with Orange stripe and this is orange with white. This does have a Schwinn Slik on it but some had white letters and some didn't. This Slik is a 1969 so it works for a 1970, just can't be a newer date than 1970. Schwinn used whatever parts were there when they were building so you could have older parts but not newer, The pedals are bow pedals and I believe correct but they were so many variations I don't try to keep track. The repops did have an orange seat. 1969 forward had an orange seat with white stripe. Schwinn also made an accessory line of seats so you could buy different seats for your bike as an option therefore you can get away with a lot when restoring, within reason of course.

It sounds exactly the same as raleigh! there were loads of bikes with different parts fitted as standard. As a child who cared what parts were on it, all you wanted to do is unbox it and ride it like you stole it!! (its still the same today!) lol ;D ;D
